Experienced Barista
Full time 40hrs p/w - working alternate weekends
Location: Aldershot, Hampshire
Pay: £10.00p/h - pay review once probation period is complete
Who we are
We are an independent cafe in Aldershot with a mission to serve amongst other things; beautiful coffee. We have a large team of volunteers who make up the bulk of the workforce in the café, the volunteers will be your colleagues each day - we were set up by and run by a small international aid charity called Karuna Action who manage and oversee everything that takes place in the building.
Although we are small, we have a big vision that extends beyond the UK, however, our vision for the café is for it to be place of friendship and safety to all in our local community. With many things happening throughout the building in the various rooms, you will need to be someone that is passionate about people from all walks of life and about our local community too!
Position
Our core team is small, passionate and friendly and we are looking for an experienced, full-time barista to supervise the daily running of the shop. We need somebody with experience of working in a café, who is comfortable operating all the machinery and equipment associated.
About you
You should be able to work in a busy environment, both independently and as part of a team, have a can-do attitude and have a passion for creating a welcoming environment for all our customers. You will need to be great with people, particularly our volunteer team, who will be your responsibility while they are on shift.
You will
- Support the team to provide quality experiences, while ensuring all procedures are followed, taking the lead on shift.
- Train new Barista’s.
- undertake all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the store as and when required, being accountable to you line manager.
- Implement new marketing POS, and brief the volunteers on new recipes / seasonal ranges to ensure the experience our regulars have come to expect.
- Deliver health & safety, cleanliness, and drive understanding of appropriate food hygiene standards throughout the team.
- From the quality of an espresso to the maintenance of equipment, you’ll ensure the highest of standards for our customers.
- Maintaining accurate stock levels and ensuring all on-site stock is stored well and persevered to maintain quality and freshness.

- Starting wage £10.00p/h – Pay review after 3 month probation period is complete.
- Potential for overtime - not guaranteed - available when offered by management.
- 2 out of 4 weekends off - you won't have to work every weekend.
- You'll never work on a Sunday.
